Correct Pick Technique Tutorial
Tim’s Sweep Picking Exercises
Introduction
From beginners to advanced expert one-to-one tuition
from a professional, gigging and sessions guitarist
who has taught hundreds of private guitar and bass
students over the last fifteen years.
Tim's personal philosophy or aim for guitar teaching
is to fully explain the techniques and ideas i.e.
scales, harmony and theory, etc. at work in the
music the individual wishes to learn. In this way
the student gains the skills necessary in a short
time, ultimately to teach themselves from the widely
available resource materials such as: books, guitar
magazines, etc. by drawing on the techniques and
ideas that have been built up during the lessons.
Although most of Tim's students start as beginners
they always progress rapidly with some reaching the
most advanced of material in two years or less.
While a small number go on to pursue music at some
of the very finest music courses available in this
country and abroad.
Styles
Tim is constantly transcribing new material for
his students which is carefully chosen from what is
currently popular on the Radio, TV and mainstream
press; this is to ensure that the material taught is
relevant to the present. Some of his current

Tim's Background and Experience
On occasion he's been sent students who featured on
TV talent searches such as X-Factor, Pop-Idol etc.
on the recommendation of major record labels, one of
whom went on to be signed by 'New Kids On The Block'
management, landing a major record contract. He has
also been approached by the BBC to coach an actor
for their 'Cutting It' TV Series.
Vice-versa, major record companies such as Polydor
and Universal have occasionally approached Tim for
students who fit the profile they are currently
scouting for.
In 2001 he had the great privilege of leading a
clinic for Jackson Guitars as part of an endorsement
package that he secured with them in 2001.
After working with legendary Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules
at his North London studio and also live in Ibiza,
Tim's name was added to the prestigious London
Guitar Institutes hall of fame, which is where he
studied to attain his Guitar Institute Diploma
1992-1993. This led to being invited back as a
lecturer to lead a one-off Master Class on the place
of guitar in the current dance scene in 2005.
Tim’s aim is to help you achieve above and beyond
your personal goals and expectations by creating a
specialist course of one-to-one tuition that suits
